Conan joins TBS to host late-night talk show

06:07 / Posted by Conan / comments (2)

Talk show host Conan O’Brien is joining US broadcaster TBS to host a late-night talk show that is expected to debut in November.

The comedian’s new programme will be followed by Lopez Tonight, which will shift to a midnight time slot.

O’Brien began talks in earnest with TBS just last week, after George Lopez personally called him to ask that he consider joining the network’s late-night line-up.

Lopez said, "I can’t think of anything better than doing my show with Conan as my lead-in. It’s the beginning of a new era in late-night comedy".

O’Brien says, "In three months I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I’m headed to basic cable. My plan is working perfectly".

TBS has looked to build a programming slate that appeals to a young, diverse audience. It expects O’Brien to be a long-term addition to the network’s late-night landscape. O’Brien will host his hour-long, yet-to-be-titled show Mondays through Thursdays at 11 pm.

Turner Entertainment Networks president Steve Koonin says, "Conan has been the comedic voice for a generation. TBS already has a huge audience of young comedy lovers, and Conan’s show will give these fans even more reasons to watch our network".

With the addition of O’Brien’s show, TBS will establish two hours of late-night talk. Lopez Tonight, while just a few months old, has already become a destination show for a diverse audience. The Lopez Tonight audience is young as well, with a median age of just 34.

Koonin adds, "For decades, late-night TV has been dominated by broadcast television. Now, with a young audience and a growing late-night lineup, TBS is set to be the choice of comedy fans for years to come."

Conan O'Brien to Perform at Civic Theatre, April 29

Wednesday March 10, 2010

Jay Leno may have bumped him from his "Tonight Show" gig, but Conan O'Brien isn't waiting for his next talk show offer. Instead, the lanky redhead comedian is hitting the standup comedy circuit, including an April 29 date at the San Diego Civic Theatre. The tour is the first public appearances by O'Brien since the late night tug-of-war drama with Leno was played out in public earlier this year and it promises to be one of the hottest tickets around.

Speculation is that the Conan show will be a "revue," with O'Brien's longtime sidekick, Andy Richter, and band leader and E Street Band drummer, Max Weinberg, both on board. Tickets reportedly will go on sale Wed., March 10 through Ticketmaster.

It's goodbye for now...

Well it’s been an honor for me to post each and every single episode of The Tonight Show with Conan O’brien these past 7 months. But as you all probably know by now NBC screwed him and the show has come to an end. As Coco stated in his last show don’t be synical and never give up the Faith one day he’ll return. Till that time (prob near the end of this year) we’ll just have to do it with the archives. I’m keeping the blog up, and i’m hoping the Dutch video site where i posted the episodes will stay up 2 and leave all eps in tact. Well that’s it then please come round and check the blog sometimes (i’ll try to post the latest developments/newsitems concerning Coco…)

We will return...
